SHIF (formerly NHIF) Kenya USSD Code
The Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) replaced Kenya's National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) on October 1, 2024, under the Social Health Insurance Act 2023. Unlike NHIF, which mainly served the formal sector, SHIF is designed to cover every Kenyan, including informal and vulnerable groups, and is administered by the Social Health Authority (SHA) at a contribution rate of 2.75% of gross monthly salary.
